Life lately 26 34/52 : Life admin

So for the last week of the school summer holidays I was based at home and the ideal opportunity to catch up on my life admin. It has been a wonderful summer but this week was time to get organised and focused.

The week was full of appointments, I had an eye test and then chose some new glasses, a blood test and some physio on my bad knee. At the moment I’m feeling virtuous that I have done all my physio exercises daily so far, using only one leg to stand up from a chair is definitely a challenge. On reflecting on my bad knee, I did realise that my injuries this year also coincided with a new pair of trainers. So, I booked a gait analysis at a local running shop which was fascinating and bought a new pair of cushioned trainers. I was at the gym this morning and wore them, I couldn’t believe how light and springy they felt. Although the new trainers are the most expensive shoes I have!

Part of my life admin has been tackling all those little things that never quite get done. I’m ridiculously pleased with myself for tidying the Tupperware cupboard, sorting the cupboards at the top and bottom of the stairs and defrosting the garage freezer. It has been very satisfying to tidy up, figuratively and metaphorically and prep for the coming season.

This summer was my summer of yoga, park yoga on Sundays, some classes on the cruise ship and finally this week beach yoga. This was amazing and I only wished I’d been at home for more of the holiday to participate more regularly. I have been spoilt this summer as the outdoor yoga has been practiced in beautiful conditions, yoga outside just feels right.

Sometimes your reaction at the death of a celebrity takes you by surprise. I’ve always been a Dolly Parton fan for her music and work on children’s literacy but on reading her obituary, she was even more remarkable than I imagined. Last Christmas one of my colleagues bought our team Dolly pins ‘what would Dolly do?’ That seems an even more pertinent statement now and her positive attitude and charity work are examples to all of us.
