My word of the month for January is reset. I keep some of our life private on my blog but the past few years have been very difficult. However I do finally feel that our family’s future is brighter and more settled and it’s time to refocus. This change did not suddenly begin on January 1st, things have been slowly coming together over the past few months and the anniversary of my husband’s accident was in a way cathartic and a time to recognise the changes and reset life.
I started the year in a measured way, as I’ve lots of things I want to do in this year but know to pace myself. My main focus this month has been good health, I’ve eaten really well and done an average of 12.5k steps a day and do feel so much better and energised. It’s little steps as I do want to get fitter but I’m leaving the gym and running goals to future months.
As well as the healthy eating I have blitzed my cupboards, wardrobes and those hidden corners in the house and tidied with a vengeance . It’s given me Lockdown vibes! This has been so therapeutic and along with a few house projects being undertaken this month and next I’m feeling that our home reflects our lives. The cabin bed for our teenage son has gone as we redesigned his room for a soon to be young adult, the new partition wall for the lounge is being made by a carpenter to give the room its own identity and our bedroom has been given a makeover and looks so cosy. In our decorating, we have gone from muted tones to pops of colour and I am loving it.
January’s reset was a positive experience and has definitely helped to shape my 2025.
